COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS
Based on my observation, I would like to advise some useful tips for polytechnic and firm:
I. Polytechnic should always keep in contact with student's circumstances through forming a whatsapp group and encourage student to report undesirable situation to management of polytechnic and imparting their rights either student nor a worker.
II. Lecturer that observe intern student should fully-participate in scrutinizing their work including final report and log book plus giving appropriate marks base on what the student did. The problem arise when some lecturer show no interest to engage in this event and give marks according to their will.
III. The firm should exercise their promise construct on the earlier agreement with polytechnic. Dispute occur when student have to work for the task that is not state in the job scope to an extent touching personnel matter just like selling mobile accessories, umbrella, perfume through seller platform. Besides that, employers did not give allowance as mentioned in the offer letter.
IV. Polytechnic have to prepare an update syllabus including hands-on activities in accordance to what the firm need. For instance, create a complete tour package, recognize the name of inbound travel agencies and their services, calculation, marketing promotional activities, formal way to reply customer enquiries via email or phone calls and the others.
V. Firm need to give preview to the students by giving a talk or exhibit their products in polytechnic before the students step in the real working industry. This could ensure student get a deeper view on the job scope and is advantageous for them in selecting the best firm.
